The Big Announcement: Writing Sabbatical!

So, a few weeks ago, I announced that there would be an announcement (is that allowed?) here on BDWHITE.com. Well, the time has finally come. Here is the announcement:

Starting Monday, July 28 (a week from today), I will be going on a "writing sabbatical" for 5 days, or in other words, one work week. I will be writing for at least 8 hours per day. What will I be writing on, you ask? Elixir, of course! My goal will be to hopefully finish up the rough draft of the entire book during that period of time. I don't know if this is a realistic goal or not, but we shall see!

In order to make things more fun for people, and to help give myself some encouragement (and motivation) along the way, I will be posting regular updates of my progress here, on my identi.ca feed, and I will even post some snippets of the actual writing in the {art of language} forums. I will be checking comments and emails regularly, so if there's something you'd like to see in Elixir, or if you have some critique for the snippets in the forums, feel free to speak out!

Also, I'm going to challenge other BDWHITE.com readers to take a sabbatical of your own. You may not be able to do a week like me, but how about a day, or even a couple of hours? If you register for an account here at BDWHITE.com, you can even post your own snippets in the forum!

It all starts next Monday, July 28!

Okay, so maybe you were expecting something different for an announcement (like maybe you were expecting Elixir to already be finished?). Still, I'm really excited about this idea, especially as I like the idea of building up a writing community that can participate in "events" like this. That is the idea behind the {art of language} forum, after all!

New Sermon

Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a new sermon in the...duh..."Sermons" section. Download it. Read it. Comment on it. Re-use it. Enjoy it. :)
