Not So Good

Yesterday (or was it the day before?), I sat down for the first time in awhile to try to write on one of my faery tales. Ugh. It was just awful. I wrote several pages, but it just wasn't any good at all. Maybe if I go back over it I will find it wasn't as bad as I thought. But I doubt it.

Times like this, I realize that I need to sometimes just sit down and write things that don't matter as much to me. That's the problem with Elixir and this faery tale for me: I care too much about them. Granted, I have to admit that Elixir is not exactly great writing or a great story, but it is my first attempt at getting through an entire book, and as such...it matters to me. I know it's not great, but I want it to be as good as possible.

That's why writing exercises are good things. I guess I should do some, huh?

Beginnings

Being a writing journal, I should have some clever post or soring rhetoric to start things off. Unfortunately, I'm not all that great of a writer. I simply enjoy it. That's why I started this website--because I enjoy it, and with the hopes of improving my writing.

A few things about this journal. First of all, it's not going to be regularly updated. I don't write very regularly, so why would the journal be regular? Secondly, the purpose of this journal is to be a place where I can post little snippets of incomplete work, or brief ideas for a story, or just practice a bit. Don't expect anything earth-shattering. If you're looking for something like that, you'll probably have a better chance at J. K. Rowling's blog.

Hopefully, though, in spite of my shortcomings, you may find something interesting or even useful in one or two of the posts. Whatever the case, I strongly encourage everyone to sign up for a user account and start using the {art of language} forum. That is the most important part of the site, in my opinion. And I really hope it will grow and become a nice resource for all you other wannabe writers like myself.

Thanks!
